I've never bought shoes from Boathouse before so I was really not sure whether buying my regular size of 9 would be ok. I trusted that the measurements for the calves were also accurate, even though one or two reviews said they were. The widest part of my calf measures 17" and I bought a size 9 - I'm so pleased that they zipped up easily and fit perfectly. The colour is great and they are more comfortable on my foot than I expected (I wear a lot of "orthotic" footwear now!). My only minus is the sole is basically smooth so I'll have to add a grip of some sort if I want to wear it out on wet pavement. Otherwise, great boot at a great price!
